The Aeneas library

Answers need sources.

The Aeneas library is a versioned collection of original documents, maps, software, and private records. The local model is an index to it, never a replacement for it.

Four commitments

How the library is kept.

I.

Original

The whole source file, in an open format, on the machine.

II.

Cited

Every consequential answer points to a document and a section within it.

III.

Versioned

Provenance, date, license, update cadence, and checksum travel with every item.

IV.

Local

The library opens without a cloud account and without a connection.

Four layers

Useful before it is complete.

I.

Health and safety

First aid, sanitation, water, food safety, public health, weather, and evacuation.

II.

Repair and power

Electrical systems, batteries, generators, pumps, plumbing, vehicles, structures, and tools.

III.

Maps and navigation

Road, topographic, and hazard data for the client's regions.

IV.

Client archive

Records, contacts, medical summaries, property plans, manuals, inventories, and family procedures.

The private layer

The client's world belongs in the system.

We ingest sensitive material on the client's machine, during delivery, in the client's home; unencrypted copies don't leave with us.

For consequential questions

A useful answer has five parts.

AnswerSourceLocationAssumptionsUncertainty

The model is a way into the library. The library stays inspectable and portable, and it works with the model turned off.

A library earns its keep when you can find things in it and trust what you find.
